Women’s right in times of Corona
May 25, 2020

This is the story of Philomina, a woman who lives alone in a totally demolished house in a highly uncomfortable situation. When there is heavy rain her house is full of slurry. She lives under very unhealthy conditions. The accessibility of medical aid to this area is very complex.

Philomina has been suffering from diabetes for many years. This diabetes lead to kidney failure and the need for dialysis 10 years ago. Since that time she needs dialysis every third day. Philomina can’t afford the dialysis anymore nor the transport costs. She also needs a lot of medicine. But her medicine costs have increased so that she cannot afford that either. And at some point she will need surgery for a dialysis shunt. That also causes costs, but it is essential for her, because after so many years she can’t only use a catheter for her dialysis. Philomina is very desperate. Because of her illness she can’t work anymore. She has major concerns about her future.

But she is very positive and tries to manage the daily struggles on her own. And she tries to maintain a positive attitude towards life.

It is very sad to see her suffering.
