Co-founder and Head of UNA in India

My name is Jeny Ajith from Kerala. I am a co-founder and board member of UNAforWomen. I met our president Daniela 20 years ago. She lead an organization called HRDC, where I was the chief assistant. Together we founded a women empowerment as well as an environmental section back in 2004, because we care about the planet and its people, especially those under or misrepresented. What began as a professional relationship, turned into a long lasting friendship based on mutual respect and a common understanding of women’s rights & feminist leadership.

It cumulated when transformed into our own project, UNAforWomen, with the believe that a better world can exist – but only where and when women* are equal to men. Together we can make a change!

Daniela

Founder and President

My name is Daniela, born and raised in Austria, turned into a global citizen that has lived and worked in over 20 countries, a feminist and a passionate activist. Ever since I studied Political Science I fiercely believe in feminist leadership and women’s power as active agents of change. Women’s rights are my passion, and so is deploying innovative campaigns, developing strategies and leading successful teams. I have been working with national and international NGOs such as Greenpeace, Four Paws, the European Women’s Lobby, HRDC in India and Amnesty international which has allowed me to become a global campaigning, policy, fundraising and communications expert. When I’m not working, I like to be outside and enjoy the beauties offered to us by Mother nature. You can find me jogging, hiking, traveling, singing and cooking.

Head of UNA in Tanzania

As a human rights lawyer I share a common concern for women´s rights and the issue of domestic violence against women. Evidence shows that this form of abuse remains very common across the world. By challenging inequality, domestic violence may be reduced. This is why I founded the USAWA project in Tanzania (means Equality in Swahili) : in respect of all the challenges, women must face throughout their life; Through visual arts, the prejudice and stereotypes on gender will be challenged.

I am now honored to be an UNAforWomen representative for Tanzania. Together we can defend women’s rights everywhere.

Hello, my name is Liliana, I believe that solutions to today´s global problems require education, inclusion, opening social circles which do not allow the same opportunities for those who need it most, and in this way empowering, mainly women.
Women are disproportionately affected by the many threats we face including the rise of violence and the climate crisis.
Therefore, it is critical to prioritize their voices and their needs in our efforts to create a just and sustainable society.
Together, we can create a world that is socially and environmentally just, equitable, and sustainable.

My name is Jenny Lind Elmaco. I am an international development strategist, gender equality champion and science diplomacy advocate.
My work in feminist values revolves around gender-responsive budgeting and feminist diplomacy. I fiercely believe in feminist leadership and the important work feminist organisations are delivering around the world.
